Expert Witness Work

We undertake Expert Witness Work for a wide range of construction projects ranging from small domestic projects to large commercial disputes. We have a portfolio of complex Expert Witness work which has been undertaken. Expert Witness Work will always be fronted by a suitably experienced Chartered Engineer, utilising other staff as backup for design checks, research and site monitoring work.

Simon Bastone has considerable experience in acting as expert witness for construction related legal disputes. With a wide range of projects undertaken as a Chartered Engineer since 1988, Simon has the necessary skill to undertake this work. Cases ranging from problems with contractor's workmanship, serious design issues to house surveys have been undertaken. Examples of recent cases include vibrating and bouncing floors, deflecting beams resulting in cracking, leaking basement, ground water problems, failure of soakaways, serious defects in a building not picked up by a survey, failure of retaining walls, dispute about consultants fees and works carried out without a party wall notice.

• Expert reports – we can produce expert reports for any construction or design related dispute. When required, reports are written for the court and are civil procedure rules part 35 compliant.
• Advising on disputes – we can offer initial advice on construction or design related queries or disputes, which in some cases can be resolved amicably between parties or can lead to a full expert witness report.
