Type: Bespoke contemporary house Location: Torcross
We have been appointed as Structural Engineers for the design of an exciting bespoke contemporary house situated adjacent to the seafront at Torcross. This is a very interesting project involving specialist structural design to result in very slender construction to suit the architectural visualisation of the building. The house was designed by Architect Russell Jones.
At the rear of the building is a steep cliff and a very steep access track. The design is required to take into account the possibility of slippage of material, containing it safely, and impact protection from the steep access driveway.
This project also involves a survey on a substantial sea wall to the east of the property, together with consideration of backfill behind the wall, extending back beneath the proposed dwelling. This involves specialist foundation design for long term stability of the structure.
Retaining walls are required to the north side of the property to retain the driveway and upper slopes.
