Type: Flood Works Location: Ottery St Mary, East Devon

Heavy storms led to a large collapse of a river bank which blocked a water course. We were instructed by an insurance company to carry out the works to include stabilising and retaining the bank. Due to the works being carried out in a river a dialogue had to be opened with the Environment Agency in order to gain the necessary permissions to carry out the works, with approval being granted for both the temporary works and the permanent structure.

The design included upper and lower retaining walls with an intermediate earth bank stabilised using ground anchors and geotextile mats.
