Dartmouth & Kingswear Ferry Slipway

Type: Maritime - Temporary Works for Slipway Construction Location: Dartmouth, South Devon

This project involved design of a temporary cofferdam to enable the slipway to be safely constructed in the river, under water at high tide. The work involved assessing soil investigation data and detailed tide information to establish all possible site conditions and water levels throughout the work. This enabled a cost effective and practical design where the depth of piles and the presence of rock was of utmost importance, piles being socketed into rock. The project was very successful and completed on time.
