Type: Hotel Conversion to Flats Location: Former Salcombe Hill House Hotel, Sidmouth, East Devon

This is a substantial 4 storey detached hotel building converted into 16 luxury apartments with extensions for additional accommodation, a basement housing a communal swimming pool, theatre and an underground car park.

The project required a full structural investigation to determine the nature and condition of the existing structure, followed by detailed design for repairs, alterations, upgrading for fire and sound proofing and extensions.

The swimming pool and basement structure were constructed in reinforced masonry (for ease of construction and enabling the use of local labour) on a reinforced concrete raft foundation.
